FORTE LEADS SALVE REGINA TO
COMEBACK WIN
OVER TRINITY WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Newport, R.I. - Junior guard Amy Forte (Vernon, Conn.) scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Salve Regina University Seahawks to a 74-60 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in women's basketball action this evening. Trinity falls to 5-13 overall and is 0-5 in the NESCAC with its ninth consecutive loss, while the Seahawks improve to 9-11.
Trinity jumped out to a 10-point lead at the half, behind three long range three-pointers by senior guard Jackie Siscone (Hammonton, N.J.). The Bantams were outscored, 46-22, in the second half and shot 25 percent from the field and 43 percent from three foul line in the last 20 minutes.
Trinity sophomore center Kate McCloskey (Uxbridge, Mass.) led all scorers with 26 points, making nine out of 10 shots from the field, and added eight rebounds. Siscone totaled 11 points and four steals, and junior forward McKenzie Corby (Bethel, Conn.) had seven points and a game-high 14 boards for the Bantams.
Junior forward Erin Brown (Casco, Maine) scored 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds off the bench, while junior guard Kristin Hart (New Fairfield, Conn.) notched 13 points for the Seahawks. Salve made 24 out 30 shots from the foul line to compensate for zero three-pointers.
