LOWELL LEADS MIDDLEBURY
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PAST TRINITY
Middlebury, Vt..- Senior forward Amy Lowell (Chester, N.H.) had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Middlebury College Panthers to a 56-42 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in the New England Small College Athletic Conference women's basketball opener for both teams this evening. Trinity, which has lost two in a row, falls to 5-6 overall and 0-1 in the NESCAC. Middlebury, improves to 11-2 and 1-0 in the league.
Trinity shot just 24.6 percent from the field and 17.1 percent in the second half to record its lowest point total of the season. The Panthers also shot poorly from the field with a 33.9 field goal percentage, but outscored the Bantams 31-20 in the second half.
Sophomore center Kate McCloskey (Uxbridge, Mass.) totaled 14 points and 12 rebounds, and junior forward McKenzie Corby (Bethel, Conn.) added 10 points and nine boards for the Bantams. Senior guard Riann Siciak (Bernardston, Mass.) scored 12 points for Middlebury.
