TRINITY WOMEN FALL SHORT AGAINST CASE WESTERN
IN BASKETBALL TOURNEY FINALS
Cleveland, Ohio- Senior center Erin Rogalski (Duluth, Ga.) scored a game-high 36 points and grabbed 13 boards to lead the host Case Western Reserve University Lady Spartans to an 89-76 win over the Trinity College Bantams in the finals of the Lady Spartan Classic this afternoon.
Trinity, which evens its record at 1-1, had beaten Oswego State, 84-46, to advance to the championship game. The Lady Spartans had defeated Denison University, 91-74, in their semifinal contest. Denison pounded Osweho, 78-43, in the consolation game.
Case Western outscored Trinity, 50-31 in the second half and 14-1 over the final 3:50 of the game. Two free throws by junior forward Bridget Dullea (Longmeadow, Mass.) gave Trinity a 75-73 lead with 3:5o remaining, but the Spartans scored the next five points and made seven of nine foul shots down the stretch. Rogalski was the Tournament Most Valuable Player and junior guard Tracy Roessner (Brunswick, Ohio) joined Rogalski on the All-Tournament squad with 12 points, eight assist, and five rebounds in this game.
Sophomore center Kate McCloskey (Uxbridge, Mass.) made 11 of 18 shots from the field for a a team-high 29 points and pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds. McCloskey and junior guard Alison Hadden (Drexel Hill, Pa.), who scored eight points with six boards, were named to the All-Tournament team. Dullea notched 18 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while senior guard Jackie Siscone (Hammonton, N.J.) added 12 points, including four of eight on three-point attempts, six rebounds, and six assists for the Bantams.
