TRINITY WINS ONE OUT OF THREE MATCHES IN WESLEYAN TOURNEY

 

Hartford, Conn.- Freshman Lucy Hollis (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) had 10 kills and 19 digs to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-0 victory over the Mount Holyoke College Lyons in the first round of the Wesleyan University Invitational Volleyball Tournament this weekend.  The Bantams, who lost a pair of 3-0 matches against the Smith College Pioneers and the3 Wesleyan University Cardinals in the ensuing rounds of the tournament, moves to 6-10 for the season.  Trinity had dominated in the Mount Holyoke match on Friday night, winning by game scores of 30-17, 30-9, and 30-22.  

Senior co-captain setter Christine Horton (San Marino, Calif.) recorded 20 assists against Smith while sophomore Charlotte Grassi (Chevy Chase, Md.) notched 10 kills and four blocks, and Hollis added 17 digs.  The Bantams played Smith closely, but were defeated 30-23, 30-24, and 32-30.  In the Wesleyan match, Trinity was defeated 30-25, 30-25, and 30-25.  Sophomore Kate Hunter (Ross, Calif.) had eight kills and 10 digs and Hollis had five kills and 16 digs.
