TRINITY VOLLEYBALL SPLITS IN HOME DEBUT

Hartford, Conn.-- Sophomore outside hitter Kate Hunter (Ross, Calif.) had 14 kills, 14 digs and four aces to lead Trinity College Bantams to a 3-2 victory over the Mount Holyoke College Lyons and a split in its home opening tri-match this afternoon at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity dropped a 3-2 decision against the Division II Teikyo Post University Eagles in the final match of the day, after the Eagles had downed the Lyons, 3-1.

Against the Lyons, the Bantams won the opening game decisively, 30-19, before Mount Holyoke rallied to win two of the next three games. Trinity then went on to win the final game 15-10. Senior co-captain setter Christine Horton (San Marino, Calif.) led Trinity with 37 assists while freshman outside hitter Lucy Hollis (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) added seven kills and 22 digs and sophomore opposite Charlotte Grassi (Chevy Chase, Md.) chipped in with nine kills and 19 digs.

In the nightcap, the Bantams were edged out, 3-2, by Teikyo Post. The Eagles jumped out to a quick lead with 30-28 and 30-24 victories. The Bantams then countered with 30-27 and 30-25 wins of their own. Teikyo Post bounced back to pull out a 15-13 win in the fifth game. The Trinity attack was led by Hollis, who had 28 digs, 10 kills, and four service aces and Horton with contributed with nine digs, seven kills, 39 assists, and four aces.
