TRINITY VOLLEYBALL NETS COMEBACK
WIN OVER WESTERN CONNECTICUT
Hartford, Conn.- Freshman outside hitter Katherine Hunter (Ross, Calif.) totaled 23 kills, 15 digs, and six aces to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-0 win over the visiting Western Connecticut State University Colonials in women's volleyball action this evening at Ray Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity, which had lost seven of its last nine matches, improves to 13-15 with one regular season match remaining, while the Colonials drop to 18-11 with their first loss in the last four matches.
Trinity rallied from a 2-0 deficit to, finishing with a 15-7 triumph in the fifth and deciding game. Senior co-captain middle blocker Beth Landry (Troy, Mich.) served the final four points for Trinity in her final home match as a Bantam. Trinity squandered a 19-14 lead in the first game, losing, 30-27, and was outplayed in a 30-19 loss in the second game. Western Connecticut was serving for the match, up 30-29 in game three but served the ball out of bounds to keep Trinity alive for one more point. Trinity took advantage, winning the next three points, and scored 16 of the last 27 points to take the fourth game, 30-21.
Hunter recorded a .425 hitting percentage on her 23 kills, while junior setter Christine Horton (San Marino, Calif.) totaled 63 assists and freshman opposite hitter Charlotte Grassi (Chevy Chase, Md.) notched 14 kills off the bench for Trinity. Bantam senior outside hitter Kristin Hagan (Kentfield, Calif.) finished with 15 digs and 12 kills but also had 36 attempts setting a new College record with 2,416.
