COAST GUARD VOLLEYBALL BEATS BANTAMS

New London, Conn.- Freshman middle blocker Katie Johann (Bayport, N.Y.) had 11 kills, eight digs, and three aces to lead the United States Coast Guard Academy Bears to a 3-1 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in volleyball action this evening. Trinity, playing its first match under interim head coach Renee Najarian, falls to 0-1 with the non-conference loss, while the Bears even their season record at 2-2.

Trinity won the first game, 15-11, before dropping three in a row. Trinity had not lost to Coast Guard since 1997. Freshman outside hitter Staci Krueger (Virginia Beach, Va.) added 10 kills and 13 digs for the Bears.
