TEIKYO POST TOPS TRINITY SOFTBALL
Hartford, Conn. - The visiting Teikyo Post University Eagles scored a combined seven runs in the final two frames en route to a 9-1 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in softball action this afternoon. The Eagles put the game out of reach on a two-run double by junior Diane Mulligan (Middlebury, Conn.) in the fifth. The loss drops the Bantams to 3-12-1 on the season, while Teikyo Post ups their record to 14-11.The game was scoreless for first two innings, until a two-run double by the Eagle freshman Tracy Johnson (Londonderry, N.H.). Down 5-0 in the fourth inning, Trinity senior co-captain Maureen Heneghan (Windsor Locks, Conn.) ripped a line drive double into the right center gap and later scored the lone Bantam run on a sacrifice fly by fellow senior co-captain Laura Heath (Windsor, Conn.). Freshman hurler Crista Holtom (Waterloo, Ontario) struck out seven Bantams to earn the win for the Eagles. Teikyo Post scored four runs in the fifth inning sealing the victory.
