TRINITY SOFTBALL LOSES PAIR AT COLBY

Waterville, Maine - Sophomore Annette Caswell (Bucksport, Maine) had a double and all three RBI in the first game and tallied two hits, two runs, and a double in the nightcap to lead the Colby College White Mules to a 3/8-1/0 sweep of the Trinity College Bantams in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) East softball doubleheader this afternoon. Trinity drops to 6-21-1 overall and closes the NESCAC East season at 1-7 with the losses, while the Mules improve to 11-10 and extend their winning streak to four games. With the wins, Colby qualifies for its first-ever NESCAC Championship Tournament.

Caswell drove in classmates Shannon Emerson (West Friendship, Md.) and Kate Hurd (Cumberland, Maine) and added a sacrifice fly in the third inning to once again bring in Hurd. Freshman Lauren Olmsted (Lexington, Mass.) improved to 6-3 with a complete game on the mound for Colby, while freshman righty Victoria Moshier (Old Saybrook, Conn.) allowed just four hits in a complete game despite the loss for the Bantams. Freshman Lindsey Freeman (Lancaster, Mass.) had two hits and the lone run for Trinity. The second game was called on the eight-run rule after five innings. Sophomore Toni-Lynn Robbins (Appleton, Maine) allowed just two hits in five innings to earn the victory for the White Mules.
