TRINITY SOFTBALL FALLS TO SMITH
Hartford, Conn.- Freshman Erica Hubbard (Bradford, Mass.) pitched a three-hit shutout to lead the visiting Smith College Pioneers to a 1-0 win over the Trinity College Bantams in softball action this afternoon. Trinity, playing in its home opener, falls to 2-9 and Smith improves to 8-3.
Junior outfielder Laura Heath (Windsor, Conn.) collected a single and a double and junior first baseman Maureen Heneghan (Windsor, Conn.) singled for the Bantam's three hits. Trinity freshman Kate Hunter (Ross, Calif.) also tossed a three-hitter, allowing her only run in the first inning on an error, two walks, and a ground out, in a losing effort.
