TRINITY SOFTBALL LOSES BOTH TO EASTERN CONNECTICUT

Hartford, Conn. - Freshman pitcher Jennifer Ross (Canterbury, Conn.) pitched a two-hit shutout in the first game and added a double and three RBI in the second game to lead the visiting Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors to a 14/9-0/1 sweep of the Trinity College Bantams in softball action this afternoon. Trinity drops to 3-16, while the Warriors improve to 11-9 with their fifth and sixth wins in a row.
In the first game, Trinity's two hits were singles by junior shortstop Laura Heath (Windsor, Conn.) and freshman catcher Sarah Hoyle (Ansonia, Conn.). Eastern was led by sophomore Kelly Rowan (Watertown, Conn.), who went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, and 4 RBI.
In the nightcap, Heath scored on a single by freshman outfielder Alexandra Blumer (Washington, D.C.), Warriors Wendy Urso held Trinity to just four hits on the mound. The Bantams committed 10 errors in the two games.
