VAN DER VEER LEADS COAST GUARD
TO WIN OVER TRINITY SOFTBALL
New London, Conn.- Senior Sue Van der Veer (Winter Park, Fla.) went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and four RBI to lead the United States Coast Guard Academy Bears to a 10-2 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in softball action this afternoon. Trinity drops to 2-13 with its sixth straight loss, while the Bears improve to 17-4. Van der Veer hit a three-run double in the bottom of the first inning and an RBI triple in the third frame, while freshman catcher Sarah Hoyle (Ansonia, Conn.) smacked a two-run double in the fourth inning for Trinity.
