MCDERMOTT LEADS TRINITY SOFTBALL OVER SAINT JOSEPH
Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore right-hander Kristi McDermott (Barrington, RI.) pitched a three-hit, shutout to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 5-0 win over the visiting Saint Joseph Blue Jays in softball action this afternoon. Trinity, which is has a three-game, winning streak and improves its record to 6-20, while the Bluejays fall to 20-12.
Trinity broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning with five singles, and added an insurance run in the sixth on an RBI-single by junior Liz Bontempo (Granby, Mass.). Blue Jays junior right-hander Mary Ann Parsons (Clinton, Conn.) allowed nine hits in seven innings in a losing effort.
