TRINITY SOFTBALL SWEEPS KING’S
POINT IN DOUBLE HEADER

Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore right-hander Kristi McDermott (Barrington, R.I.) tossed a one-hit shutout to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 11-0 win in the first game and a sweep of the doubleheader against the visiting United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners in softball action this afternoon. The Bantams won, 9-1, in the nightcap.

Trinity improves to 5-20 with its first doubleheader sweep of the season, while King's Point falls to 6-17. The Bantams jumped all over the Mariners in the first game with two runs in the first inning and nine in the second in the first game. Freshman right-hander Lauren McDowell (Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.) picked up her first collegiate victory on the mound with a six-hitter in the second game. The Bantams scored in every inning but the third, forcing the game into an early end with five runs in the bottom of the sixth.
