Sports update, Softball vs. Wesleyan, 4/18/00


TRINITY SOFTBALL BEATS WESLEYAN

Middletown, CT - The Trinity College softball team defeated NESCAC foe
Wesleyan University 10-0 to improve their all-time record against Wesleyan
to 21-2.  The Bantams were led offensively by freshman Kelly Kemper
(Amherst, NY) who came off the bench to collect two singles and score two
runs.  Also contributing offensively for the Bantams were sophomore
infielder Liz Bontempo (Granby, MA) and freshman outfielder Laura Heath
(Windsor, CT) who each scored two runs.
	On the mound for the Bantams, sophomore pitcher Heather Standring
(Spencer, MA) came within two outs of a no-hitter, which was broken up by a
one-out single by junior Tanya Ellman.  Standring went the distance and gave
up no runs on only the one hit.  With the win, Trinity improved their record
to 9-17, while Wesleyan dropped to 5-20.
