In the opener, senior catcher Caitlin Luz (Woburn, MA) mashed a
homer over the leftfield fence in the second inning for a 1-0 lead, but
sophomore first baseman Kristie Miller (North Canaan, CT) delivered a
three-run shot in the fourth off McDermott for a 3-1 lead for the Polar
Bears.
In the top of the fifth, the Bantams took control of the game as
they plated four runs in a 5-3 triumph. Freshman rightfielder Kelly Kempner
(Amherst, NY) and sophomore second baseman Liz Boutempo (Granby, MA) both
provided RBI singles in the inning. McDermott allowed just one hit over the

Laugelli (Long Branch, NJ) took the loss for Bowdoin to drop to 6-2.
In the nightcap, the Bantams built a comfortable 8-2 lead after
three innings for sophomore starter Heather Standring (Spencer, MA) but
Bowdoin battled back. Bowdoin scored two in the bottom of the third and a
two-RBI double by Miller capped a three-run fourth to cut the gap to 8-7.
Bowdoin chased Standring in the seventh with a run to tie the game, but
McDermott came in to silence the Polar Bears as the game went to extra
frames. In the eighth, Trinity started with freshman centerfielder Laura
Heath (Windsor, CT) on second and she came home on error to provide the
winning margin in the 9-8 triumph.

pitcher Jessie Poulin (Hamden, ME) took the loss in game two to drop to 2-4.
