TRINITY TRIO QUALIFIES FOR

CROSS COUNTRY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Westfield, Mass.- Junior tri-captain Ryan Bak (Suffield, Conn.) finished second overall with a time of 25:02 to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a sixth-place finish in the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country New England Regional Championships at Westfield State College this afternoon. Freshman Christina Kane (Springfield, Mass.) finished 20th overall at 18:15 as the Bantam women finished fifth.

The Trinity men, which were ranked No. 5 in New England and No. 16 in the nation, and the Bantam women, ranked No. 5 in New England and No. 26 in the nation, both finished one place short of qualifying for the NCAA Division III National Championships. The Trinity men finished 21 points behind fifth-place Williams, whom they finished ahead of two weeks ago at the NESCAC Championships, while the Bantam women were just six points behind fourth-place Brandeis.

Bak earned All-New England honors for his performance, along with fellow junior tri-captain James Emord (Bridgewater, Mass.) who finished ninth with a time of 25:19. Bak, Emord, and Kane each qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships as individuals next Saturday at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. Trinity sophomore Kristina DePeau (Stafford, Conn.) came in 23rd place with a time of 18:27, which was one shy of qualifying for Nationals as individual.
