TRINITY HARRIERS COMPETE AT

NEW ENGLAND OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS

Boston, Mass. - Senior co-captain Todd Markelz (Homer, Alaska) finished 19th overall to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 13th-place team finish at the New england Collegiate Men’s Cross Country Championship Meet at Franklin Park this afternoon. Sophomore Leeann Rheaume (Pittsfield, Mass.) placed 66th in the women’s meet as the Bantam women finished 21st.

The Trinity men's squad, ranked No. 5 in Division III New England and No. 20 in NCAA Division III entering the meet, finished 42 points behind 12th-place Tufts with a score of 396. The Bantam women, ranked No. 10 in Division III New England, totaled 576 points to fall 49 points behind 20th-place Holy Cross. Yale University won the women's race with 20 points, and Providence College won the men's race with 17 points.

Sophomores Ryan Bak (Suffield, Conn.) and James Emord (Bridgewater, Mass.) placed 43rd and 87th, respectively for the Trinity men.
