KANE WINS STEEPLECHASE AND TRINITY FINISHES 13TH AT WOMEN'S TRACK NEW ENGLANDS
Hartford, Conn.- Freshman Christina Kane won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:22.65 to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 13th place finish in the New England Division III Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Springfield College this afternoon. Kane’s time set a new Trinity record, breaking Kane’s own mark of 11:23.21 she set at the Penn Relays in late April.
Kane was named All-New England for her efforts, along with four other Bantams and the Trinity 4x800-meter relay squad, for finishing in the top eight in their respective event. Sophomore Kristina DePeau (Stafford, Conn.) finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run and senior tri-captain Jennifer Villa (Hyannisport, Mass.) placed fifth in the triple jump. Junior Sarah Hackett (Stonington, Conn.) finished seventh in the 10,000 meters and freshman Kristi Wallin (Drexel Hill, Pa.) was eighth in the 100-meter dash.
