2001-02 Men's Tennis Outlook |
With the loss of two starters, including perennial All-American Rostyslav Orach to graduation, the Trinity College men's tennis team will rely on several underclassmen to step up their games in 2001-02. First-year Head Coach Rob Hallagan is excited to take over a program that has become a force in the New England region over the past five years. With three consecutive bids to the NCAA Division III Championship, the Bantams’ new goal will be to advance further into the tournament.
Sophomore Richard Lawrence returns after finishing with a 16-1 dual match record and an All-American season as Orach’s doubles partner. Lawrence finished 22-4 overall in singles and 25-4 in doubles, advancing to the Rolex Small College Doubles Championship finals last fall.
Joining Lawrence in a stellar sophomore class are Scott Levy and Csaba Godry. Both were starters in singles and doubles, posting identical 13-8 singles marks last season. Playing with senior Muammar Khan, Levy also had a 15-7 doubles record. Khan, a two-year starter, has a 26-11 singles mark in his two seasons as a Bantam, including a 14-6 record in 2000-01. Khan and classmate Peter Green will provide leadership and depth in both singles and doubles in their senior seasons.
