Hartford, Conn.- Senior co-captain Jesse Hammond (New London, Conn.) won the 50-yard butterfly and the 50-yard freestyle, although the Trinity College Bantams dropped a 233-62 decision against the visiting Tufts University Jumbos in men’s swimming and diving action this afternoon. The Trinity women also fell to Tufts, 163-135, as both Bantam teams were competing in their final home meets of the 2002-03 season. The Trinity men fall to 0-6 and the women drop to 4-3.

Hammond also teamed fellow senior co-captain Ryan Bares (New Hartford, Conn.) and classmates Maurice Lee (Wayne, Pa.) and Michael Tobin (Upper Montclair, N.J.) to win the 400-yard freestyle relay. Freshmen Lindsey Jordan (Summit, N.J.) and Amy Corvino (Florham Park, N.J.) won the 50-yard backstroke and 50-yard breaststroke, respectively, on the women’s side, while sophomore Kate Mortensen (Bedford, N.H.) won the 100-yard back. In diving action, the Bantam women were led by freshman Caroline Harrison (Chatham, N.J.), who won both the one- and three-meter events.
