Middletown, Conn. - Freshman Lindsey Jordan (Summit, N.J.) finished first in the two backstroke events, as the Trinity College Bantams dropped a 190-110 decision against the Bates College Bobcats in the women's swimming and diving season opener for both teams at Wesleyan University. Senior co-captain Jesse Hammond (New London, Conn.) and sophomore Matt DeRosa (Setauket, N.Y.) each won two events as the Bantams lost to Bates, 181-100, in the men's opening meet.

Jordan won the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 29.64 and the 100-yard event at 1:04.58. Hammond took first in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyles at 22.30 and 49.40, respectively. DeRosa won the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 26.99 and the 100-yard backstroke at 58.63.
