WHEATON SWIM TEAMS EDGE TRINITY Hartford, Conn.- Sophomores Julia Kaye (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) and Elizabeth Stoker (Westwood, Mass.) each won two events and swam a leg of the first-place 200-yard freestyle relay squad, although the Trinity College Bantams were defeated by the Wheaton College Lyons in men's and women's swimming and diving action this afternoon. The Wheaton men defeated Trinity, 144-132, and the women were victorious, 158-140. The Bantam men drop to 0-6 and the women fall to 1-6, while the Lyon men improve to 2-6 and the women move to 5-4.
For the Trinity men, junior Jesse Hammond (New London, Conn.) won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, and classmate Chris Rorer (Villanova, Pa.) finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard individual medley. Hammond also swam a leg of the first-place Bantam 200-yard freestyle relay team.
Kaye won the 200- and 500-yard freestyles, and Stoker finished first in the 50-yard freestyle and the 50-yard butterfly. Kaye, Stoker, senior tri-captain Kate Lafleur (Belchertown, Mass.), and sophomore Caroline Molitor (Berwyn, Pa.) won the 200-yard freestyle relay as well.
