BRANDEIS SWEEPS TRINITY IN
MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Hartford, Conn.- Senior John Latner (New Orleans, La.) won the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes to lead the visiting Brandeis University Judges to a 153-85 win over the Trinity College Bantams in Trinity’s men’s swimming and diving home opener this afternoon. The Brandeis women’s team also defeated the Bantams, 160-131. The Trinity men’s and women’s teams each fall to 0-2, while the Judges improve to 7-0 on the men’s side and 5-2 on the women’s side.
Trinity sophomore Beth Stoker (Westwood, Mass.), won the women’s 50- and 100-yard freestyles with times 26.83 seconds and 58.33, respectively. The Trinity men lost despite two first place finishes by senior captain Christian Sterling (Glastonbury, Conn.). Sterling won the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:46:02 and the 1,000-yard freestyle at 10:42:27.
The Bantam women also had three other first-place performances, including the 500-yard freestyle by junior Laura Centofanti (Hanover, Mass.) at 6:06:50 and the 400-yard individual medley by senior co-captain Lydia Barrett (Haverhill, Mass.) at 5:18:24. The Bantam women’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of sophomores, Caroline Molitor (Berwyn, Pa.), Jennie Bartlett (Marblehead, Mass.), Julia Kaye (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) and Stoker finished first as well with a time of 1:49:49.
