Princeton, N.J. – Junior Michael Ferreira (Stamford, England) won a 3-0 decision at the No. 2 position to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 8-1 win over the Harvard University Crimson in the semifinal round of the College Squash Association (CSA) National Men’s Team Championships (Potter Trophy) this afternoon at Princeton University.
Trinity, ranked No. 1 in the nation, improves to 18-0 for the season and extends its winning streak to 89 consecutive matches dating back to 1998. The Bantams, seeded No. 1 in the eight-team, tournament field, will face No. 2-seeded Princeton tomorrow at noon. The Bantams had defeated Harvard, 8-1, in during the regular season.
Seven Bantams posted 3-0 triumphs in the victory, although sophomore Bernardo Samper (Bogota, Colombia) was surprised by Crimson freshman Will Broadbent (Greenwich, Conn.), who came back from a 2-9 loss in the first game to give Samper his first career loss in an intercollegiate varsity match.
