TRINITY SQUASH TEAMS SWEEP BROWN
Hartford, Conn. - Senior co-captain Jonathan Smith (Leeds, England) and classmate Thaddeus Roberts (Philadelphia, Pa.) won the most dominant matches of the day, each allowing just six total points in 3-0 triumphs to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to 9-0 win over the Brown University Bulldogs in men’s squash action this evening. The Bantam women downed the Bears, 8-1, as well, thanks to 3-0 wins by six different players.
The Trinity men and women, both ranked No. 1 in the nation, improve to 12-0 and 8-0, respectively for the season. The Bantam men have won 83 consecutive matches and the Trinity women up their winning streak to 19 matches. The Brown women, ranked No. 7 in women’s squash, falls to 11-5, and the Bear men, ranked No. 9 in the nation, drop to 5-5.
Trinity won seven matches in three games, and sophomore Bernardo Samper (Bogota, Colombia), ranked No. 3 in the nation, posted a 3-1 win at No. 1 against Yale freshman Julian Illingworth (Portland, Oregon), who is ranked as the No. 3 player in the nation.
