TRINITY MEN'S SQUASH BLANKS F & M

Hartford, Conn. - Freshman Jonathan Smith (Leeds, England) dominated play at the No. 1 position to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 9-0 win over the visiting Franklin & Marshall College Diplomats in men's squash action this afternoon.

Trinity, which is ranked No.1 in the nation, is now 3-0 and has won 38 consecutive matches since losing in the Potter Trophy finals in 1998. The Bantams, coached by Paul Assaiante, have won 32 straight matches at home. Franklin & Marshall falls to 4-2 with its second loss in two days.

Smith, the No. 3 player in the nation, won, 15-3, 15-5, 15-1, in his season debut for Trinity. Six other Trinity players swept 3-0 decisions, including junior freshmen Michael Ferriera (Stamford, England) and Pat Malloy (Boston, Mass.) at the No. 4 and 5 positions, respectively.
