TRINITY MEN’S SOCCER SCORES FIVE SECOND
HALF GOALS TO DOWN JOHNSON AND WALES

Hartford, Conn. - Senior co-captain forward Morgan Sandell (Cohasset, Mass.) tallied two goals and an assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 7-1 victory over the visiting Johnson and Wales University Wildcats in men’s soccer this afternoon. Trinity improves to 3-2-1 with its highest scoring total of the fall, while the Wildcats drop to 6-4-1 with their first loss in the last four games.

The Wildcats gave Trinity a scare in the opening five minutes, scoring their only goal when senior forward Mark Scott (Cleveland, Ohio) kicked the ball in after it had deflected off the hand of Bantam junior goalkeeper Michael Doherty (Marshfield, Mass.). Doherty stymied Johnson and Wales after that, making six saves before yielding to sophomore keeper Jamie Burns (Minnetonka, Minn.) early in the second stanza.

Sandell tied the score off a cross by junior midfielder John Klaus (Blue Bell, Pa.) just 1:30 after the Wildcat goal, and Bantam junior back Tim Cross (Marblehead, Mass.) headed in the go-ahead score from senior co-captain midfielder Peter Zoppi (Cheshire, Conn.) in the 18th minute.

Sandell and Zoppi each scored early in the second half, along with sophomore Rob Bialobrzeski (Hampton, N.H.) for the Bantams. Trinity freshman forward Chris Fryxell (Windsor, Conn.) scored the first two goals of his collegiate career just 24 seconds apart late in the game. Klaus finished with a pair of assists, while Cross and Bialobrzeski notched assists to go with their own scoring shots.
