TRINITY MEN'S SOCCER WINS AT CONNECTICUT COLLEGE
Hartford, Conn. - Junior midfielder Chris Walther (Palisades, N.Y.) scored his first collegiate goal :20 into the game to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 2-1 victory over the Connecticut College Camels in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men’s soccer this afternoon. Trinity improves to 4-2-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the NESCAC with its second straight win, while the Camels drop to 0-7-1 overall and 0-4 in the league.
Walther barreled into the box, receiving the first of two assists from senior co-captain forward Morgan Sandell (Cohasset, Mass.), and blasted a shot into the goal to give Trinity a 1-0 lead. Sandell fed fellow senior co-captain Peter Zoppi (Cheshire, Conn.) on a cross from the right to the left side of the goal midway through the second half for Trinity. The Camels finally got on the board in the 86th minute, as freshman midfielder Lee Camfield (North Stonington, Conn.) put a pass to the blind side of Bantam junior goalie Michael Doherty (Marshfield, Mass.) and senior co-captain P. J. Dee (New Canaan, Conn.) finished the play with the score. Doherty had eight saves for the visiting Bantams, while sophomore Jon Knights (Nashua, N.H.) and senior Sean LaBrie (Yarmouth, Maine) each had three stops for the Camels.
