WESLEYAN'S TREVELONI SINKS
TRINITY IN MEN'S SOCCER

Middletown, Conn.- Senior co-captain forward R. T. Treveloni (Basking Ridge, N.J.) scored both goals to lead the Wesleyan University Cardinals to a 2-0 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action this afternoon.

Trinity, which loses its second straight game, falls to 6-5 overall and 3-4 in the NESCAC, while the Cardinals improve to 7-3-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the league with its first win in three games.

Treveloni scored his first goal just 1:55 into the game. Trinity sophomore Tim Cross (Marblehead, Mass.) was able to block Wesleyan shot from entering the net on the far left side, but the ball caromed directly to Treveloni who blasted it past Bantam sophomore goalie Michael Doherty (Marshfield, Mass.).

The game remained scoreless until the Treveloni converted on a pair of nifty passes by junior forward Bobby Guadagno (Westport, Conn.) and sophomore forward Chris Feige (Wellesley, Mass.) in the 71st minute.

Trinity, who played without injured co-captains Morgan Sandell (Cohasset,Mass.) and Peter Zoppi (Cheshire, Conn.), committed 23 fouls to just nine for the Cardinals and was outshot, 20-11. Doherty made three saves in the first half before surrendering to freshman goalie Jamie Burns (Minnetonka, Minn.) who stopped four shots in the second stanza. Freshman Dan Penrod (Piedmnot, Calif.) had six saves to earn the shutout for Wesleyan.
