IANDIORIO GOAL LIFTS TRINITY
MEN’S SOCCER OVER WESLEYAN

Hartford, Conn. - Senior tri-captain midfielder Caley Iandiorio (Wayland, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal in the 61st minute and added a pair of assists to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-1 win over the visiting Wesleyan University Cardinals in New England Small College Athletic Conference men’s soccer action this afternoon.

Trinity evens its season mark at 4-4-3 and improves to 2-4-1 in the NESCAC, while Wesleyan falls to 5-6 overall and 2-5 in the league with its third consecutive loss.

Iandiorio scored on a rebound after fellow senior tri-captain Brett MacQuarrie (Cohasset, Mass.) had hit the post on a header. The goal came 45 seconds after the Cardinals had tied the score at 1-1.

Trinity senior midfielder Steven Rovithus (Agawam, Mass.) began the scoring on feeds from Iandiorio and freshman midfielder John Klaus (Blue Bell, Pa.) to account for the only goal of the first half.

Wesleyan’s goal was credited to freshman back John Katzenbach (Amherst, Mass.), who headed the ball before it deflected off Trinity sophomore forward Morgan Sandell and into the net. MacQuarrie added a goal at the 70:40 mark on assists from Iandiorio and Klaus.

Trinity senior tri-captain goalkeeper Tom Hambrick - Stowe (Lancaster, Pa.) made eight saves, and Mark Penrod (Piedmont, Calif.) stopped six shots for the Cardinals.
