BOWDOIN MEN'S SOCCER EDGES TRINITY
Brunswick, Maine - Senior Zac Frost (Harvard, Mass.) headed a ball into the Trinity net midway through the second half to give the Bowdoin College Polar Bears a 1-0 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action thisafternoon.
The loss drops Trinity to 2-3-3 and 1-3-1 in the NESCAC, while the sixth straight win for the Polar Bears gives Bowdoin, ranked No. 3 in New England, a 7-1 overall record and a 4-1 league mark.
In the second half, senior Stewart Steffey (Brookline, Mass.) crossed a ball that junior David Bulow (Denver, Colo.) headed at the near post to Frost at the back post. Frost flicked the ball across the goalmouth with his head for the decisive tally. Bowdoin held off a late Trinity charge to preserve the victory.
Senior goalkeeper Tom Hambrick-Stowe (Lancaster, Pa.) made eight saves in the losing effort for Trinity. Polar Bear freshman Travis Derr (Berlin, Conn.) registered his second shutout in as many days by making one save.
