Wesleyan pulled ahead in the second quarter, scoring four of the final five goals to end the first half en route to an 8-4 lead the break. Trinity fought back from the four goal deficit to cut the Wesleyan advantage to 9-8 on goals by four different players, including an unassisted score by senior tri-captain attackman Ravi Pillay (Falls Church, Va.) to pull Trinity within a point at the 9:04 mark of the fourth frame.
Wesleyan freshman attackman Jordan Funt (Setauket, N.Y.) found the net twice in a row to push the Cardinals lead back up to 11-8, but Bantam sophomore middie Jake Dore (Manchester, Mass.) found junior attackman Shep Skiff (Portland, Maine) just before the five-minute mark to cut the deficit to two. The Cardinals answered with two straight goals and held the Bantams at bay for the remainder of the game.
Pillay paced the Bantams with two goals and three assists, while Skiff notched two goals and one assist, and senior tri-captain midfielder Erik Mazmanian (Newton, Mass.) scored twice. Trinity junior Geoff Shaw (Charlotte, N.C.) and freshman Jakob Isbrandsten (Greenwich, Conn.) combined for 10 saves in goal. Wesleyan outshot Trinity, 32-20.
