SKIFF GOALS GIVE TRINITY MEN’S 
LAX WIN AGAINST EASTERN

Hartford, Conn. – Junior attackman James Skiff (Port) scored the game-tying and game-winning goals to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 9-8 win over the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors in men’s lacrosse action this afternoon on Jesse/Miller Field.  Trinity snaps a four game, losing streak to improve to 3-4, while the Warriors, ranked No. 4 in New England, drop to 4-3 with their first loss in the last four games.

Trinity trailed, 5-1, at the half and 6-3 with one quarter to play before notching five goals in the fourth frame.  Trinity senior co-captain attackman Ravi Pillay (Falls Church, Va.) gave Trinity its first lead at 7-6, but two Warrior goals put the Bantams back down by a goal late in regulation.  Skiff netted his third goal of the game with :55 on the clock to force the extra period.  Midway through the overtime, Skiff scored the clincher on an assist from senior midfielder Erik Mazmanian (Newton, Mass.).

Pillay and freshman attackman Colgate Smith (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) scored two goal apiece and Pillay added an assist, while junior attackman Sandy Leighton (Blue Bell, Pa.) scored one goal and assisted on a second score.  Sophomore attackman Brian Hebron (Hicksville, N.Y.) paced the Warriors with two goals and two assists, and senior Marc DiGiovanni (Wilton, Conn.) added three helpers.  Trinity junior Geoff Shaw (Charlotte, N.C.) and Eastern Connecticut senior Mark Hayes (Fairfield, Conn.) tallied 14 and 13 saves, respectively, in a pair of solid goalkeeping efforts.
