WESLEYAN DEFEATS TRINITY IN MEN’S LACROSSE

Hartford, Conn. - Freshman midfielder Chris Knacke (Lynbrook, N.Y.) had five goals and an assist to lead the visiting Wesleyan University Cardinals to a 13-12 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men’s lacrosse action this afternoon. Trinity drops to 2-8 overall and 2-4 in the NESCAC, while Wesley improves to 8-4 overall and 3-3 in the league.
Trinity led 7-3 at halftime, but the Cardinals came back to score five goals in the third quarter. With :30 to go in the third quarter, sophomore midfielder Will Peace (Chestertown, Md.) and senior midfielder John O’Brien (West Hartford, CT) scored two quick goals to give the Bantams back the lead at 9-8.
The Cardinals scored five unanswered goals to take a 13-10 lead with two minutes left in the game, and a pair of Trinity goals still left the Bantams one point short as time expired. Wesleyan freshman goalie Matt Wheeler (Darien, Conn.) made 9 saves, while Bantam senior Eric Wilson (West Hartford, Conn.) had 10 stops in net.
