Sports update, men's lacrosse vs. Wesleyan (ECAC Quarterfinals),
WESLEYAN BEATS TRINITY MEN'S LAX IN ECAC FIRST ROUND
Hartford, CT - Sophomore attackman Andrew Rotando (Boston, MA) scored three
goals and assisted on a fourth to lead the visiting Wesleyan University
Cardinals to a 13-9 win over the Trinity College Bantams in the first round
of the Eastern College Athletic Association (ECAC) Division III New England
Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament.
Wesleyan, seeded No. 5 in the tourney, improves to 11-4 for the
season with its third straight victory. The No.4-seeded Bantams finish the
season with four consecutive losses and a 9-5 record.
Wesleyan took control early, taking a 2-0 lead after one period and
a 7-3 lead at halftime. The Bantams scored early in the second half to cut
the lead to three goals but failed to get any closer the rest of the way.
Senior tri-captain attackman Bobby Souers (Montgomery Village, MD)
paced the Bantams with four goals, and freshman attackman Ravi Pillay
(Bethesda, MD) had three assists. Fellow senior tri-captain Matt Jerry
(Acton, MA) made 12 saves for Trinity.
Sophomore attackman Mark Ungar (East Setauket, NY) scored three
goals for the Cardinals, while junior attackman John Landay (Baltimore, MD)
notched two goals and an assist. Junior goalie Lukas Cash (North Attleboro,
MA) stopped 15 shots in goal for the Cardinals.
Wesleyan will host the ECAC Final Four this on May 13 and 14.
