TRINITY MEN REMAIN PERFECT IN NESCAC
WITH WIN OVER HAMILTON ON THE ICE

West Hartford, Conn. - Senior co-captain forward Andrew Halder (River Edge, N.J.) recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 5-4 win over the visiting Hamilton College Continentals in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men’s ice hockey action this evening at Kingswood-Oxford Rink.

Trinity, ranked No. 14 in the nation, improves to 6-2-1 overall and remains flawless in the NESCAC with a 5-0 record. The Continentals, ranked No. 19 in the nation, drop to 5-2-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the league with their first loss in the last three games.

The offenses came out strong with three goals scored in the first 6:07 of the game. Hamilton got on the board first on a goal by freshman forward Erik Kallio (Mansfield, Mass.), but Trinity answered with one of three power play goals in the game when freshman defenseman Brendan Timmins (Arlington, Mass.) scored from sophomore forward Jeff Natale (Hamden, Conn.) and junior forward Dan Gyllstrom (Hudson, Mass.) at the 5:51 mark.

The lead did not last for long, as the Continentals found the net 16 seconds later on a goal by senior forward Rob Gordon (Fulton, N.Y.). Trinity evened the score at 2-2 with 6:04 left in the first period on a power play conversion by sophomore forward Ryan Stevens (Concord, N.H.).

In the second period, Trinity opened a two-goal lead when Halder and Timmins assisted junior defenseman Tim Joncas (Branford, Conn.) on one goal and Halder beat several defenders down the right corner for an unassisted score.

Hamilton pulled back within one late in the second period, but the Bantams went back ahead by two at 5-3 on a power play goal by sophomore forward Joseph Ori (Niles, Ill.) from Joncas. A late Continental goal gave the visitors a chance to tie but Trinity held on behind 28 saves by sophomore goalie Doug Kisielius (Park Ridge, Ill.) Hamilton netminder Gabe Tash (Evanston, Ill.) stopped 38 shots.
