TRINITY MEN’S ICE HOCKEY
LOSES CLOSE ONE AT COLBY

Waterville, Maine. – Sophomore goalie Chris Ries (Pittsburgh, Pa.) stopped 31 shots to lead the Colby College White Mules to a 3-1 victory over visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men’s ice hockey action this afternoon at Alfond Arena. 

Trinity, ranked No. 9 in the nation, fall to 11-4-2 overall and 10-2-1 with its second loss in two days, while the White Mules, ranked No. 14 in the nation, improve to 12-3-1 overall and 10-2-1 in the league their third consecutive win. 

After a scoreless first period, senior captain Brock Barton (McLeods, New Brunswick) put Colby up to stay with a goal 3:03 into the second period. White Mule sophomore forward Cory Ernst (Bridgewater, Nova Scotia) tallied an unassisted score at 16:50 of the second period for what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

Trinity struck back just 29 seconds later when junior forward Dan Gyllstrom (Hudson, Mass.) lit the lamp at 17:19, but Brian Chisholm (King, Ontario) gave the Mules an insurance goal 12:28 into the third period.  Sophomore Doug Kisielius (Park Ridge, Ill.) made 24 saves in goal for the Bantams.
