TRINITY AND AMHERST SKATE TO SECOND TIE
OF THE SEASON IN MEN'S ICE HOCKEY
West Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore forward Scott Aldrich (Wilmington, Mass.) scored his second goal of the night with two seconds left in regulation to lead the visiting Amherst College Lord Jeffs to a 3-3 tie against the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men’s ice hockey action this evening at Kingswood-Oxford Rink. Trinity, ranked No. 14 in the nation, moves to 6-2-2 overall and remains unbeaten in the NESCAC with a 5-0-1 record. The Lord Jeffs up their record to 3-6-2 overall, and 3-2-1 in conference play. The teams had tied earlier in the season, 4-4, at Amherst.
Trinity led after one period, on a goal by junior forward Dan Gyllstrom (Hudson, Mass.) at 7:10 of the first period, and retained its one goal advantage through the first two frames. Bantam junior forward Stephen LaBrie (Springfield, Mass.) supplied the offense for Trinity, while Steve Nelson (Wayzata, Minn.) netted one for Amherst in the second period. Trinity sophomore forward Ryan Stevens (Concord, N.H.) scored the potentially game-winning goal with 5:37 left in the game to set up Aldrich's heroics.
