TRINITY HANDS FIRST LOSS OF THE
SEASON TO TOP-RANKED NORWICH
Waterville, Maine.- Freshman forward Jeff Natale (Hamden, Conn.) had two goals and an assist to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 4-1 win over the Norwich University Cadets in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)/Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) men’s ice hockey action this afternoon.
Trinity, which wins its third straight game and extends it unbeaten streak to five games, improves to 9-5-1 overall and 7-3-1 in the NESCAC. Norwich, undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the nation, drops to 16-1 overall and 10-1 in the ECAC East.
Trinity senior goaltender Geoff Faulkner (Westerville, Ohio), who has allowed just three goals in his last four games, made 25 saves and had a shutout for 58:14. Trinity freshman forward Ryan Stevens (Concord, N.H.) began the scoring on a power play 8:59 into the game, and Natale scored his first goal 14:43 into the second frame. Bantam senior forward Ryan Beale (Hingham, Mass.) scored on a pass from Stevens, and Natale converted on classmate Joseph Ori ‘s (Niles, Ill.) second assist of the day in the fourth period.
Senior forward Matt Moran (Brighton, Mass.) scored the Norwich goal and freshman goaltender Kevin Schieve (Rocky Mountain House, Alberta) had 22 saves.
