LABRIE LEADS TRINITY MEN’S ICE HOCKEY
TO WIN AT MASSACHUSETTS COLLEGE

 

North Adams, Mass.- Sophomore forward Stephen LaBrie (Springfield, Mass.) had two goals and an assist to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 5-2 win over the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Mohawks in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)/Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East men’s ice hockey action this afternoon.

Trinity improves to 13-7-1 overall and 11-6-1 in the NESCAC with its second win in a row, while Massachusetts College drops to 11-9-3 overall and 7-7-3 in the ECAC East with its first loss in the last five games. The teams played the final period and the last 1:47 of the second period this evening after the game was suspended on Feb. 1 due to a blackout. The Bantams led, 4-1, before the blackout and the teams traded goals for the final 21:47 today.

LaBrie scored his two goals 2:04 apart midway through the first period, and freshman forward Jeff Natale (Hamden, Conn.) added a third Trinity goal to give the Bantams a 3-1 lead at 5:48 of the second frame. Senior defensemen Martins Lans (Carnikava, Latvia) and Brian Fenwick (Birmingham, Mich.) each scored insurance goals for Trinity. Bantam senior goalie Geoff Faulkner (Westerville, Ohio) had 26 saves, while senior netminder Ryan Kiernan (Brick, N.J.) made 30 stops for the Mohawks.
