RISSMILLER GOAL GIVES WESLEYAN
MEN’S ICE HOCKEY WIN OVER TRINITY
Middletown, Conn. - Sophomore forward Scott Rissmiller (Belmont, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal on a rebound of his own shot midway through the third period to lead the Wesleyan University Cardinals to a 2-1 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men’s ice hockey action this evening. Trinity, which snaps a three-game winning streak, drops to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the NESCAC. Wesleyan, which defeats the Bantams for the second time since 1983 (27 games), improves to 3-3-2 overall and 3-2 in the league.
After a scoreless first period, Cardinal senior forward C. J. MacDonald (Pleasanton, Calif.) opened the scoring five minutes into the second frame. Trinity tied the score on a goal by senior co-captain forward Matt Greason (North Bridgton, Maine) at the 12:43 mark of the second, but was stymied on its other 21 shots in the period by Wesleyan sophomore netminder Jim Panczykowski (Cattaraugus, N.Y.). Panczykowski totaled 47 saves in the game, while Bantam senior goalie Geoff Faulkner (Westerville, Ohio) had 22 stops.
