TRINITY MEN’S ICE HOCKEY WINS FIRST
AT SOUTHERN MAINE

Gorham, Maine- Senior defenseman Martins Lans (Carnikava, Latvia) notched a goal and two assists and senior co-captain forward Matt Greason (North Bridgton, Maine) contributed a pair of assists to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 6-2 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)/Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East men’s ice hockey action this afternoon at the USM Ice Arena. Trinity evens its season record to 1-1 overall and in the NESCAC, while the Huskies drop to 0-2 overall and in the ECAC East.

Bantam freshman forward Ryan Stevens (Concord, N.H.) scored the game-winning his first career goal late in the second period, collecting an errant shot by junior forward Greg O'Leary (Reading, Mass.) behind the Huskies net and slipping a wrap-around past Southern Maine freshman goalie Matt Collaton (Oakville, Ontario) at 14:26.

The Bantams added a trio of unanswered goals in the third to turn a close game through 40 minutes of play into a one-sided final. Senior defenseman Brian Fenwick (Birmingham, Mich.), from Greason, scored a power play goal at 1:54, and sophomore forward Kevin Dmochowsky (Cedarburg, Wisc.), from Lans, added a shorthanded goal at 15:59. Dmochowsky, from Lans and senior defenseman Mike Sayre (Keene, N.H.), closed out the scoring with a power play goal at 18:27.

Trinity took a 1-0 lead through one period of play on the first career goal by freshman forward Joseph Ori (Niles, Ill.), off a Greason set up at 5:06. Southern Maine tied the score on a power play goal at six minutes of the second period when freshman forward Luke Betts (Moncton, New Brunswick) converted a feed from senior forward Tony Coates (Goose Bay, Newfoundland). Trinity regained the lead at 2-1 on an unassisted goal by Lans at 11:18, before Husky freshman defenseman John Lounsbury (Winthrop, Mass.) tied the game at 2-2.

Senior goalie Geoffrey Faulkner (Westerville, Ohio), turned aside 14 shots for Trinity, while three Southern Maine goalies combined for 21 saves.
