TRINITY LOSES TO CONN. COLLEGE IN
SPURRIER
MEN'S ICE HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
Middletown, Conn.- Freshman goaltender Steve Oven (Vestal, N.Y.) made 27 saves to lead the Connecticut College Camels to a 4-1 win over the Trinity College Bantams in the first round of the Spurrier Men's Ice Hockey Tournament this afternoon at Wesleyan University. Trinity, which drops to 1-2, will play Amherst in the consolation game tomorrow at 1 p.m. The Camels, who improve to 2-1, will face the host Wesleyan Cardinals tomorrow at 4 p.m. in the tourney finals. Wesleyan tied Amherst in the other first round game, but advanced to the finals by defeating the Lord Jeffs in a shoot-out.
Trinity trailed, 1-0, after two periods and 2-0 after the first of two goals by Camel sophomore forward Nick Vealitzek (Minneapolis, Minn.) 7:38 into the third frame. Bantam sophomore forward Tim Joncas (Branford, Conn.) finally put Trinity on the board with a goal at the 11:01 of the third, but the Camels scored twice in the next five minutes to seal the victory. Trinity freshman Doug Kiselius (Park Ridge, Ill.) made 14 saves in his collegiate debut in goal.
