Middletown, Conn.- Sophomore forward Steven LaBrie (Springfield, Mass.) had a pair of goals, including the game-tying score in the third period to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 7-4 win over the Amherst College Lord Jeffs in the consolation round of the Spurrier Men's Ice Hockey Tournament this afternoon at Wesleyan University. Trinity evens its season record to 2-2, while Amherst drops to 1-1-2 with its first defeat of the season.

Amherst led, 3-1, midway through the first period as freshman forward Beau Kretzman (Edina, Minn.) scored twice for the Jeffs. Trinity junior Greg O'Leary (Reading, Mass.) cut the Amherst lead to 3-2, scoring from freshmen Robert Gillon (Greenwich, Conn.) and Ryan Stevens (Concord, N.H.) with 2:17 remaining in the first. LaBrie tied the score 1:46 later on assists by Stevens and senior co-captain forward Matt Greason (North Bridgton, Maine).

Amherst went ahead in the second frame on a goal by junior forward Justin Pitrack (Wilmette, Ill.), but the Bantams tied the score again when Stevens and sophomore forward Tim Joncas (Branford, Conn.) fed senior co-captain forward Jeff Griffin (Wethersfield, Conn.) for a score. The Bantams outscored Amherst, 3-0, in the third period as LaBrie, Greason, and senior defenseman Brian Fenwick (Birmingham, Mich.) each found the net. Trinity senior goalie Geoff Faulkner (Westerville, Ohio) made 25 saves, including seven in Amherst's scoreless third period, to earn the win.
