WESLEYAN BLANKS TRINITY WOMEN ON THE ICE

West Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore Kiersten Von Trapp (Stowe, Vt.) scored two goals and one assist to lead the visiting Wesleyan University Cardinals to a 4-0 win over the Trinity College Bantams in Eastern College Athletic Confernece Women's Ice Hockey action this evening at Kingswood-Oxford rink. Trinity’s record falls to 1-16-2 overall and 1-13-1 in the ECAC with their ninth consecutive loss, while Wesleyan improves to 6-13 overall and 3-10 in the ECAC.

Wesleyan netted their first goal of the night six minutes into the first period by junior forward Jessica Zieman (Westwood, Mass.). Von Trapp ended the period on a goal with just one minute left on a power play, to give the Cardinals a 2-0 advantage.

Trinity held Wesleyan scoreless until the third period when Von Trapp netted her second goal of the night seven minutes into the period. Wesleyan scored again with only 18 seconds left on an empty-net goal from Zieman.

For Trinity, freshman goalie Meredith McKinnon (Glen Cove, N.Y.) had 30 saves, while Wesleyan goalie and senior captain Emma DeSimone (Saco, Maine) had 26 saves before giving way to freshman Elizabeth Courtney (Belmont, Mass.) who had four saves.
