POTVIN GOAL GIVES HAMILTON UPSET
WIN OVER TRINITY MEN ON THE ICE

West Hartford, Conn.- Junior forward Nicolas Potvin (Rockland, Ontario) scored the game-winning goal with 8:26 remaining to lead the visiting Hamilton College Continentals to a 2-1 win over Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference men’s ice hockey action this afternoon.

Trinity, ranked No. 11 in the nation, falls to 11-4-2 and 8-2-1 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Continentals improve to 6-9-1 and 7-5 in the NESCAC with their first win in the last five games.

After a scoreless first period, Hamilton sophomore forward Rob Gordon (Peterborough, Ontario), who also assisted Gordon on the game-winner, gave Hamilton a 1-0 lead on a short-handed goal at 6:11. Trinity answered with 4:24 left in the period on a goal by freshman forward Tom Pierandri (Ridgefield, Conn.).

Hamilton, 11-6, in the third frame, and Continental freshman netminder Matt Jones (Burke, N.Y.) stymied the Bantams with six of his 30 saves in the game. Trinity junior goalie Geoff Faulkner (Westerville, Ohio) had 23 saves.
