O'LEARY GOAL HELPS TRINITY TIE
WESLEYAN IN MCCABE CONSOLATION
Amherst, Mass. - Sophomore forward Greg O'Leary (Reading, Mass.) scored the team's only goal to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 1-1 tie against the Wesleyan University Cardinals in the consolation round of the Ben McCabe Men's Ice Hockey Tournament at Amherst College this afternoon.
The Bantams are now 3-1-1, while Wesleyan is 1-3-1. Amherst College defeated Connecticut College, 7-3, in the finals of the tournament.
O'Leary scored on a slapshot from junior defenseman Matt Brown (Reading, Mass.) and freshman defenseman Sean Doherty (Kennebunk, Maine) 1:19 into the game. Wesleyan answered with a goal by Brian Maynes (Germantown, Md.) midway through the second period.
Both goalies played well over 65 minutes, as Trinity junior Geoff Faulkner (Westerville, Ohio) stopped 31 shots and Cardinal freshman Barrett Elmer (Orinda, Calif.) made 53 saves.
