O’LEARY LEADS SCORING PARTY FOR TRINITY
MEN’S ICE HOCKEY AGAINST SKIDMORE

West Hartford, Conn.- Sophomore forward Greg O’Leary (Reading, Mass.) had two goals and an assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 7-1 win over the visiting Skidmore College Thoroughbreds in Eastern College Athletic Conference men’s ice hockey action this evening.

Trinity, ranked No. 11 in the nation, improves to 11-3-2 and 8-1-1 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Thoroughbreds fall to 6-10 and 4-7 in the ECAC East with their fourth straight loss.

The Bantams led, 2-0, after one period and 5-1 after the second frame, while outshooting Skidmore, 42-21, for the game. Trinity converted on four out of seven power play opportunities, including the two goals by O’Leary.

Trinity senior forward Denis Petrov (Novokuznetsk, Russia) scored the game’s first goal 3:41 into the game on an assist by junior forward Jeff Griffin (Wethersfield, Conn.). O’Leary added a second Bantam goal with 4:26 remaining in the first stanza, before sophomore forward Conor McDavitt (Duxbury, Mass.) put the Thoroughbreds on the board early in the second period.

Trinity junior goaltender Geoff Faulkner (Westerville, Ohio) held Skidmore scoreless for the final 36:07 of the game, and the Bantams scored five goals over that time for the easy win. Faulkner finished with 21 saves, while Skidmore Jon Olson (Highland, N.Y.) and Steve Belew (Houston, Texas) combined for 42 saves.

Trinity junior defenseman Brian Fenwick (Birmingham, Mich.) had a goal and two assists, while junior forward Matt Greason (North Bridgton, Maine) and junior defenseman Mike Sayre (Keene, N.H.) added a pair of assists each for Trinity. Bantam freshman forward Tom Pierandri (Ridgefield, Conn.) notched a goal and an assist in the third period.
