BABSON MEN'S ICE HOCKEY STOPS TRINITY WIN STREAK
Wellesley, Mass.- Freshman forward Rob Harvey (Fredericton, New Brunswick) scored two of his three goals in the first period to lead the Babson College Beavers to a 10-1 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in Eastern College Athletic Conference mens ice hockey action this evening. Trinity, ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division III, is now 10-3-2 and 7-1-1 in the NESCAC with its first loss in the last six games. The Beavers improve to 9-5-3 and 4-4-2 in the ECAC East.
Harvey and senior forward Bobby Weston (East Amherst, N.Y.) each recorded hat tricks for Babson, which opened up a 5-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. Weston also assisted on two other goals. The Beavers converted on three out of four power plays opportunities. Freshman forward Steven LaBrie (Springfield, Mass.) scored the Trinity goal, but not until after Babson held a 10-0, lead late in the third period.
Junior goalie Greg Berard (Woonsocket, R.I.) made 21 saves over the first 50 minutes and held trinity scoreless before giving way to freshman Jason Hart (Millburn, N.J.). Trinity junior Geoff Faulkner (Westerville, Ohio) and sophomore Evan Munno (Lake Grove, N.Y.) combined for 25 saves in net.
